Thank you for your interest in the Federal Surplus Property Program.
Excess federal property is received from various federal agencies and administered by the Property Management Office under the Office of Procurement and Property Management (OPPM). Program guidelines and eligibility requirements for participation in the Alaska Federal Surplus Property Program are established by Public Law 94‑519 and by the State Plan of Operations.
Use of federal surplus property is encouraged. Qualified organizations throughout Alaska have benefited from utilizing excess federal property to meet program objectives and reduce costs.
Examples of items available include, but are not limited to:
• Gym equipment
• Musical instruments
• Hardware, tools, and equipment
• Building materials
• Motorized vehicles and heavy equipment
• Marine equipment and vessels
• Aviation equipment and aircraft
To ensure proper utilization of excess federal property, eligibility requirements are conditional.
Potential eligible organizations include (note: application must be made to the AKSASP):
• Public agencies – state agencies, counties, cities, tribes, economic development districts, etc.
• Schools, colleges, and universities
• Libraries and museums
• Medical institutions, hospitals, clinics, and health centers
• Public safety organizations – law enforcement agencies and fire departments
• Child care centers
• Schools for the physically or mentally challenged
• Educational radio and television licensed by the FCC
• Providers of assistance to the impoverished and the homeless
• Non‑profit and public programs for the elderly
• Service Educational Activities (SEAs) such as the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and American Red Cross
• Veterans organizations recognized by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs
• SBA 8(a) contractor firms
• Veteran‑owned small businesses
